Sr. Priscilla Solomon, CSJ, is an Ojibway woman and a Sister of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie. She is the coordinator of the Faith and Justice ministry in her congregation.
Sister Priscilla Solomon was among the delegation that went to Rome to give support as the Synod of Bishops for the Amazon heard pleads to defend the rights of the region's indigenous people and of the land they hold sacred. She has said that the indigenous peoples of the Americas "have a very similar kind of spirituality, vision, values that teach us that everything is connected: not only people, human beings, but we are part of the land. The land is us. The water is us."
She brings a perspective on Indigenous rights, Truth and Reconciliation and how one can be Indigenous and Catholic at the same time.
