Dear Parishioners,
Merry Christmas! I pray that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. I would like to thank all of you for your assistance in helping us to implement health protocols as we celebrate safely together.
Over the past 24 hours, we have learned that a member of our pastoral team has tested positive for Covid-19. The individual was last present at the parish on Christmas Eve at the 5pm Mass. The team member was wearing an N95 mask and appropriately distanced throughout their time at church, following our health and safety protocols. The individual is currently in a period of self-isolation at home.
While the case presents a low risk of transmission, I wanted to be transparent with all of you. More than ever, especially with the very contagious Omicron variant, if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, please stay at home and limit contact with others. Anyone experiencing symptoms should consider a rapid antigen test, PCR test or consult with your family doctor. At this time, we ask that all parishioners continue to self-monitor for symptoms.
A self-assessment tool can be found by visiting: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/. Questions can also be directed to York Region Public Health at 1-800-361-5653. Let us continue to pray for all those who are sick and those who are caring for them. Should there be any additional updates, we will keep you informed. Be assured of my prayer for the good health of all this Christmas season. May God continue to bless you now and always.
Rev. Dominic Barber, Pastor
